BITEOMETRY
Privacy Policy
Contact the Biteometry operator: biteometry@gmail.com
Effective date: October 20, 2026
1. What the app does
Biteometry estimates calories and macronutrients from a meal photo and optional meal details. No account is required. Estimates can be inaccurate and are not medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment.
2. Data processed
When you request an estimate, we receive your selected photo and any meal details you enter. Avoid including people, personal identifiers, location information, or sensitive health information. Original photos may contain identifying content or embedded metadata.
Hosting and service providers may also process technical request information such as IP addresses, timestamps, requested routes, and error information for operation and security. We do not ask for your name, email, health records, or advertising identifier to generate an estimate.
3. AI processing
With your permission to analyze the photo, Biteometry sends an optimized copy and your meal details to a third-party AI Processor to generate a nutrition estimate. This processing is necessary for the estimate. If you do not agree, do not submit the photo. Our current service providers are identified in section 6.
The AI Processor may retain service data according to its applicable API terms and data controls. We do not promise zero retention by the AI Processor. See the AI Processor's Privacy Policy and API data controls. Your optional permission for Biteometry's archive is separate from the AI Processor's own data practices.
4. Optional private retention and improvement
The separate retention option is off by default. If you explicitly enable it for a photo, we store the original in the operator's private archive. The operator may use these authorized photos to evaluate and improve the app and its nutrition-analysis systems, including training or evaluating AI models. The archive is not a public gallery and is not accessible to other users.
You can receive an estimate without permitting this owner-side retention. If you decline, the backend does not add your photo to the owner's archive; temporary processing and service-provider retention can still occur. Meal notes are sent for analysis but are not stored alongside the original in this photo archive.
Photos retained before this improvement/training permission was introduced are not automatically authorized for those secondary uses. The new consent does not retroactively apply to earlier uploads.
5. Retention and deletion
Consented archive photos currently have no automatic expiry: they remain until the operator manually deletes them, including in response to a verified deletion request. Choosing not to opt in on a later upload does not delete earlier retained photos. Contact us to request deletion or withdraw permission for future improvement/training use.
There is no account-based deletion control. Email us with the approximate upload date/time, time zone, and photo description so we can try to locate the photo. We may need to verify the request. Provider copies, backups, or records required by law may follow separate retention rules. Deleting an original cannot guarantee reversal of effects from training already completed.
6. Providers and sharing
We use an AI Processor for image analysis and a Hosting Service for hosting and private file storage. Our current AI Processor is OpenAI, and our current Hosting Service is Replit. These providers process data to deliver their services, potentially in countries different from yours. The public website also loads fonts from Google, which receives the associated browser requests. Privacy/support emails are handled through the contact mailbox and its email provider.
The app has no advertising SDK or advertising-tracking feature. We do not sell the private photo archive or publish it as a user feed. We do not claim uploaded photos are anonymous, because their content or original metadata may identify someone.
7. Your choices and security
You choose whether to submit a photo, add details, and separately allow owner-side retention. Camera permission is used to take a photo; saved-photo selection uses the device's picker. A denied camera permission does not prevent choosing a supported saved photo. Network requests use HTTPS, and archive files are not exposed through public photo routes. No storage or transmission method is completely secure.
8. Children and changes
Biteometry is a general nutrition-estimation app, not a children's service. If you believe a child's personal information was submitted without appropriate authorization, contact us. We may update this policy as practices change; materially different secondary uses require appropriate notice and permission.
